"...a high-minded variety hour/art party for the ages..." - 5 Every Day
SORORITY was created by playwright and director Gina Young as a late-night k-hole for new short works by women, trans and queer performing artists. Starting as a small black box series, SORORITY quickly grew into a community hub for queer and feminist performance in Los Angeles, and a daring producer of experimental new works. SORORITY has been seen everywhere from the Lyric-Hyperion to The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles Performance Practice's LAX Festival and Barnsdall Art Park Theatre. Our stage has been graced by hundreds of artists including Amanda-Faye Jimenez, Kristina Wong, Jasmine Nyende, Phranc, Freckle, Becca Blackwell, Karen Eilbacher, Julie Lake and Lea Delaria, to name just a few.
