you are an artist. your creativity matters to the world, and has value. maybe you're too hard on yourself, sensitive about your work, perfectionist in your tendencies, frustrated that you need other sources of income, or unsure of your path right now. we've got you. "MAKING IT" AS AN ARTIST (and what the #$@!% does that even mean to you) is a workshop for creative people of all kinds. it includes a balance of soul-searching and open-ended question-asking, alongside some extremely practical number-crunching and goal-setting. it will be fun, and maybe also a little painful? you will meet wonderful people who are potential great friends and collaborators. MARCH 11, 2024 ON ZOOM 6:30PM PACIFIC TIME - RUNNING ABOUT 2 HRS (7:30PM CST / 9:30PM EASTERN / JOIN FROM ANY TIME ZONE!) gina young (she/they) is an award-winning writer and director who has been facilitating paradigm shifts with her project, feminist acting class, since 2016. in addition to curating queer and feminist spaces in los angeles with her projects SORORITY and DIVORCE, she has helped hundreds of people connect with their creativity and navigate a world that is often hostile to women, queer and trans people. gina does not have a trust fund or a college degree, but has made a career spanning two decades in theatre, music, and television that has brought them a lot of joy and the opportunity to work with countless people she admires. their interests include building community, telling authentic stories that center people who have been historically excluded from representation, and helping bring out the greatness in others. feedback from past workshops: "I JUST ASKED FOR DOUBLE+ MY RATE, THANKS TO YOU, and he THANKED ME! Honestly when I took your workshop I couldn't even imagine an opportunity when this would be possible for me, but here we are. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥" "I just got paid for seventeen hours of work I probably would have given away for free not long ago-- honestly-- because I used to completely undervalue that it's a skill I have a decade of experience in." "I didn't leave with all the answers, but I did leave with a much better set of questions. I have loved returning to them, journaling about them, posting a few of them above my desk to meditate on. If you offer this workshop again, I will 100% be back." "Thank you so much for the refreshing evening! Your questions were so helpful in re-framing my perspective, and it was such an easy, welcoming space to be in."
