SORORITY was founded by playwright and director Gina Young as a late-night k-hole for new short works by women, trans and queer performing artists. Nothing quite like it existed in Los Angeles at the time.

Starting as a small black box series, SORORITY exploded almost overnight into a community hub for new queer and feminist performance.

Within one year of its inception, SORORITY was invited to perform at The Hammer Museum and Los Angeles Performance Practice’s LAX Festival.

In 2018, SORORITY expanded to become a daring producer of experimental new works, starting with the NEW READS festival

Karen Eilbacher from Fun Home and

Lea Delaria and Julie Lake from Orange is the New Black
